New objectives for 2015

One of your new objectives for this new year 2015 can be to find a new job abroad. To achieve this objective I could give you a list of tips and recommendations- yes, another tips´list that you may have found in some websites- but I can summarise it  with some common sense advice: market analysis of your desired destination, your professional experience, your qualifications, type of personality, attitude when you are facing challenges and difficulties… You may think, that perhaps is all about packing and leaving for your great life adventure, really? I can describe you what it was for me, but this is an experience for another coming post :). What I can say it´s all about accepting risks but also having some common sense. If you wish it to be quick, easy and simple may be you should recheck your initial goal.

I think we know deep down that when were are working towards new objectives, one of the most important things is to be flexible,  not only being able to face obstacles but also having a realistic attitude with added enthusiasm. When we start a new year we tend to start listing new objectives and goals or we carry over the ones we left behind… Whatever your situation might be I think that it can be useful to remember to work with SMART objectives ( speficic, mesurable, realistic, achievable and time-bound). I am sure you have your own tips that you use in other areas of your life, that can also be applied in your job search -national or international-. However, many times, we think that we can achieve our objectives by ourselves, we make a lot of effort, work hard and we do our best to get there. As exhaustion arises or demotivation settles we feel defeated and we stop or we decide to seek some help.

My careful consideration is that we all need to get some help at some point, to invest our time and money to learn what we require to advance, to listen to people that has gone through the same process, to access materials and resources that we don´t know about, it´s a valuable step on the road we take. Above all what I want to highlight is that is essential to be ready to work in the long term. For that reason, perhaps the key to achieve your work or personal objectives is to accept the road less travelled by, the path that requires a step by step attitude, perseverance and motivation. The process to achieve those objectives becomes your life, so yes it´s important to know who you are, to choose appropiate objectives that connect with yoursefl and to be ready to walk   with someone else when you need to do so.

My best wishes for this New Year 2015!!!
